THE SEASONS FOR FISHING AT MYRTLE BEACH

Many people ask about the fishing and when the best time is to book a charter. It’s always a great time to go fishing in Myrtle Beach. Although the fishing season in Myrtle Beach may vary, each season offers something unique. South Carolina offers fishing opportunities all year.

SPRING FISHING

It’s a transitional period in the spring at Myrtle Beach. It will feel warmer than the water last winter. The estuary will also see the return of the bait fish. Blue Crabs will begin their molting process, while schools of Red Drum will be divided into smaller groups and singles. The beginning of flounder migration out to the ocean and into beaches and inlets is at the end of March. When it’s feeding time, speckled sea trout will move into deeper water and hold areas. Although fishing in spring can be difficult, it is possible to fish with the right techniques and weather.

SUMMER FISHING

Memorable sunsets, sweet and savory teas, BBQs, and warm water. This is what summer is all about. It’s also a great season to fish. There are many species you can target, including Redfish, Tarpon, Sharks, and Tarpon. Redfish and Tarpon are the main focus during summer. Redfish fishing at flood tides is a great way to fish redfish in the summer, especially if you enjoy wade fishing.

FALL FISHING

Many people love the fall season on the Grand Strand. The shrimp are fully grown and the mullet runs have begun to take shape. Trophy Red Drum, Sharks and Tarpon are starting to gain weight for winter. Redfish and Speckled Sea Trout begin to form and can be seen chasing shrimps or feeding under birds.

WINTER FISHING

Great sight fishing is possible in clear waters with mild weather. Speckled Sea trout and redfish are the main targets. Redfish schools are also common. If the weather is right, sight-fishing in winter can be a great option.
